10% Party Time!

I have done it, I got on the scales yesterday and reached my 10% target!

I was 366 lbs on the 4th January 2007 and on the 7th July 2007 I was 329lbs - I have lost 37 lbs, just over my 10% target.

Target 1 has been achieved.
Target 2, to lose weight for my renewal of vows in Rome was achieved.

Now to work towards target 3, being less again when I see Aida in Verona at the end of August.

After dithering around for over a month gaining and losing 2 or 3 lbs, I got my self organised again and kept focused. I avoided the sandwich and cake trolley at work and took in a drawer full of healthy, low fat and low calorie snacks. When I wanted a sugar burst I had a pot of 0% fat, low sugar, low calorie jelly (10 calories) to take the edge off my desire for something sweet.

What success, I lost 8lbs this week (probably mostly water again), but hey I still feel better for it!

I shall have a 10% party day today, more low calorie, low fat treats! I shall also award myself my 10% present, an Agent Provocateur perfume set I bought just for this occasion. Maybe I will even make advances to hubby for a change, as a new body shape emerges a new more adventurous person is may also be emerging!

Watch out for next weeks update.

Home from Rome

Oh it was wonderful! I had managed to get below the 24st barrier before going and the dress I wore for the eldest sprogs wedding fitted with room to spare. A lovely pure silk, very floaty, mid calf length dress. The dress was white with coral flowers and I wore it with a short coral coloured jacket. The girls and hubby were very proud of me.

I was disappointed that I had not reached the 10% target, but I was still over 2st lighter than in January - so be positive, that was an achievement.

Although the arthritis in my knees is bad I dosed up on painkillers and got on with lots of walking, the only way to see Rome. My next blog will be a day by day travel-blog of our trip to Rome.

I drank loads of water, it was soooo hot, eat a good breakfast and had lovely lunches or dinners out. I came home only 2lbs up. I was very disappointed about this because I felt lighter after all the walking I had been doing, but my oedema got worse on the plane home and I came back with ballooned feet and calves which have still not gone down. I hardly pee at all! I have been to the doctors and been given water tablets. One good thing though, on the flight out I needed the belt extension to make the 2 ends of the lap belt meet but on the flight back I DID NOT NEED THE BELT EXTENSION (yes I do want to shout it out loud). The lap belt did up without the need for the extension on the way home - I knew I had lost weight in Rome.

I have a waist again and my trousers are hanging off me, so when I shift the oedema I suspect I will have achieved the 10% target.

My next target will be to shift at least 7lbs by the end of July before heading off to the holiday home for the summer. We will probably entertain 2 or 3 sets of guests over the summer, definitely 2 sets and a third set if my brother and partner can make it. This year we are centering ourselves around the house, village or boat. We are definitely taking things easier and not running around as much. The most exercise will be gentle strolls around the local countryside, followed by swimming in our pool.

I am looking forward to simple cooking and eating there, lovely barbecued meat and fish, salads and fruit, with the normal glass of French wine. The difference between the UK and France is that the shops in France mainly only sell local produce, and the Limousin is renowned for its beef, river fish, pork, apples, pears and walnuts. In the UK supermarket you can buy food transported from anywhere in the world, but the quality is rubbish as it has been transported so far. How ecologically green is that!

Anyway, the last week has been difficult as I came back feeling a bit low and I am worried about the future, so as ever I let that dictate what I ate. I was on the see food and eat it diet. Yesterday I called a halt to that and went back to the planned eating diet, with my 7 day eating (and shopping) plan. I have lost 1lb between yesterday morning and this morning! Miracle!!

I have to break the cycle of my mood influencing my eating, scones, crisp and chocolate are not the answer.

This is the start of a good week.
